PROMOTION AND AWARENESS ON DISABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT IN ITALY
OVCI is involved in several awareness programmes in Italy; with the help of local voluntary groups, which are the OVCI operative arms.
Currently there are several voluntary groups, playing an active role in the activities of OVCI, distributed in five Italian Regions,: Lombardia, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Campania and Puglia.
In such Regions, OVCI organizes open conferences and workshops on specific development issues. In particular, periodic events are organized in Erba (Como), Conegliano (Treviso), Ostuni (Brindisi), San Vito al Tagliamento (Pordenone), Bosisio Parini (Lecco).
Every group even carries out periodical meetings with the volunteers come back from abroad, accounting about their life in the foreign Countries and about the activities they implemented.
"Go to the ends of the earth"
OVCI followed this indication of the founder of la Nostra Famiglia, Don Luigi Monza; we went to discover stories, cultures, problems, solutions, and people in many Countries.
OVCI has prepared several books and CDs; you can request them by writing to ovci@pl.lnf.it
Twenty years of cooperation (only Italian)
Disabled children follow a computer course in San Vito al Tagliamento, and celebrated the 20 years of OVCI. They made a CD with history, projects, ideas, proposals, documents and images about OVCI.
Caboclos Harbour
OVCI presence in Santana, by Elio Ciol’s photos and Paolo Garavaglia’s words. A charming book with a Silvia Zaccaria’s essay on Coblocos, Brazilian people.
Rehabilitation in developing Countries
Rehabilitation is a global process. Its target is more than a method for the treatment of disability. It aims at assuring a full development of the person with disability.
In the past, OVCI volunteers have specialized in the recruitment of international texts promoting a genuine equality for people with disability.
Moreover, OVCI activity in developing Countries is even monitored, so OVCI can present results, failures and new lines of action in scientific seminars of which the acts are available.

From fairy tale to right
OVCI la Nostra Famiglia started, an awareness campaign about the Rights of the Child in 2001.
OVCI prepared games, books and CDs that are used by Italian teachers to help children and teenagers to recognize their rights
The rights of the disabled children
A practical guide (in partnership with Save the Children).
Children with disabilities. Equal rights
OVCI made a simple and qualified CD about children's rights, with particular emphasis about the rights of children with disabilities; in the CD OVCI also offers simple education classroom activities.
Vonnavò’s tales
The author writes the stories she told his children, after a difficult period for having lost a loved person.
These tales speak about the challenge to face life, and to get cheerfulness and joy by staying together.
Emotion for the right
The manual deals with the rights of health, education, expression, and on environmental respect. It contains the texts of fairy tales and illustrations, closely examinating every right.
For each right, OVCI volunteers wrote a true story, about a child they met in developing Countries.
