LOCATION: Region of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Casablanca-Settat, L'Oriental, Sous Massa et Tanger Tétouan-Al Hoceima
START OF ACTIVITY: 2015
GOAL: To promote the social inclusion of children with disabilities in Morocco
ORIGIN OF THE COMMITMENT: Fourteen years of OVCI experience in Morocco have confirmed the difficulties faced by families with children with disabilities in being supported in the care of their children, being often unprepared to manage their problems. For this reason, OVCI has invested heavily in the production of informative material which, in simple language, provides useful information to facilitate the care of their children by families. This led to the launch of the SAFIR Reception, Training, Information and Networking service, a stable point and a place that offers families a place of welcome, assistance and training. To reach families who do not have access to SAFIR, it was decided to start a Community Based Inclusive Development pilot project
COMMITMENT DESCRIPTION: Community-Based Inclusive Development-CBID is a strategy used, especially in developing countries, for the implementation of programs aimed at the socio-rehabilitation inclusion of people with disabilities. The activity started with a pilot project in the Municipality of Ain Aouda, given the positive results of this first experimentation, we decided to spread the SIBC program in other regions of Morocco. The program was also implemented in two orphanages where there are children with disabilities, in Rabat and in Meknes.
