LOCATION: city of TEMARA, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region
START OF ACTIVITY: 2010
GOAL: To provide guidance and guidance to families regarding the rights of people with disabilities, supporting them in obtaining economic allowances and specialist support for the management of children with disabilities.
ORIGIN OF THE COMMITMENT: Following the educational commitment that led to the opening of the first Socio-Educational Center for the severely disabled in Morocco - the importance of diagnosis and early care of children with disabilities became clear. The feasibility study of OVCI on the territory carried out in 2009 and the talks held with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, lead to argue that the aforementioned difficulties are aggravated by the lack of rationalization and integration of services on the territory, which tend to work in isolation and without a common care plan that enhances the person with disabilities. From here the SAFIR Reception, Training, Information and Networking Service is launched, aimed at families with children and young people with disabilities.
COMMITMENT DESCRIPTION: The SAFIR Service in Temara was inaugurated in 2012, with the aim of orienting families of children with disabilities to the various services already present in the area, as well as creating training sessions and distributing information material that - with simple and easy access - provides useful information for the family management of children with disabilities and to improve their quality of life. Starting from February 2018, the counter has been transformed into the Multidisciplinary Service-SAFIR which, in addition to being a Reception service - thanks to the presence of a specialized team - offers physiotherapy sessions, speech therapy, educational activities and provides personalized aids to people with disabilities, who access it, created by the service team in collaboration with local artisans.
